Vote for t’angels

So, the We Make Christmas Folksy Angels competition deadline is over and we now need your vote! You probably won’t remember but we put this comp up to get people making Christmas decorations using recycled materials. And we’ve had some fab entries. Please choose the one you like most by putting your vote in the comments. The winner will win a whole year’s worth of free listings and sales on Folksy :)

So, please vote for your favourite in the comments below (don’t look down, you’ll get vertigo, this has to be one of the longest blog posts since oh, Dan Hill’s last post). To make your choice you might want to look at each photo close up. There are lots of notes on each flickr page of them detailing how people used the recycled materials which you might want to consider when voting.

DEADLINE FOR VOTING: voting finishes at midnight on the 3rd Dec.. Doh! we should have said midnight GMT!

VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED Thank you to everyone who took part – we’ll post up the winner later today :)

Wow they are all amazing well done everyone. My vote is for no. 3 Lucy Jackson’s Christmas tree decorations, it looks so colourful and lovely on the tree and its a great way to re-use supermarket carrier bags in a christmassy way.

  2. DanElectro

I vote for no2 Nifty Knits – I can imagine picking those presents off! And they’re hanging from a star…awesome x

  3. Ninde

I vote for NiftyKnits great recyclable wind chime. I am always trying to figure out what to do with last years cards! This looks great!

  4. Number 1: Halfanacre’s beautiful wreath for me, but very closely followed by Daisie Davies’ skates and Pennydog’s glittery spoons!

  5. Betty Vereen Hill

My vote goes to #2, niftyknits, for a wonderful, very original upcycling of Christmas cards.

  6. Elizabeth

I like number four, Daisie’s skates are brilliant. I hope she wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Grumpy'n'grannydee

I liked No 4 so much I might even buy it. They are all very talented though, congratulations.

  8. Lenny

I vote for number 2, I love dangly things and really like all of the ribbon and how the danglies are Christmas parcels.

  9. Samantha Levi

My vote is for NiftyKnits!! i like the use of old xmas cards coz people always end up throwing them in the bin!!

  10. Stu

the little ice skates dont look like theyre made of recycled materials, Quite like number 18. Its bold and simple

  11. claire

    Wow what fab xmas decorations!
Was really hard to choose but i’d go for number 4 defo. I love these ickle skates. Might even buy some for my tree now.

  12. Sebastian Field

I vote for Lupin, number 18, who made the best christmas star made from recycled coffee trays I’ve seen all day…

  13. Nick

had to toss a coin between the pouch stockings and the ice skate boots. It was tails so # 4 won. Well done daisie!

  14. ken

Love the angels and the wreath but vote goes to number four as you dont get many stake decorations. What a lovely idea.
    vote #4

  15. oh this was tricky, some really clever ideas!! but the ones that really caught my eye were Daisie’s Ice skate boots

    well done everyone!

  16. Sarah

I vote for number 22. duckdowndesigns
This person is really clever and very creative.
That angel would look fantastic on my Christmas tree.

  17. Hannah

I think nuber two from nifty knits is a great feature and definatly gets my vote!! what a imaginative way of creating a christmas decoration!!

  18. boo, i had a great idea but didn’t get round to doing it in time for the deadline :( everyone else’s stuff is better than i’m sure mine would have turned out though anyway! i vote for:

    17, feltbug’s lightbulb baubles (genius!)

  19. Mrs Jeavons-Walden

Number 2 is so creative but also really emphasises the way recycled goods can make something so special, especially at this joyous time of year when I am keen to turn my home into Santas Grotto for the grandkids. Definantly gets my vote for giving me a great idea!

  20. The Danish Snowman

In a year of credit crunches and global recession, all focus surely must be on recycled and reusable materials. Great concept putting presents on strings hung in a childproof height, so they can all be reused the following year, though a couple of inches higher up, in case little Brian despite general famine and starvation has manged to put on few inches by eating old newspapers from the next door bin :-) Need I say more; the winner is 2!!

  21. ruthy83

I vote from duckdown designs number 22. I love the angel, its so cute and just comes alive:-) gbu ruthxx

  22. I like nifty knits mobile. Great use of stuff I’d usually throw away. And feel bad about throwing away because it’s so pretty. Really embodies the spirit of re-use.

Quest 28s hearts and Daisies skates are nice too!

  23. DD

No 2 for me – a whole landfill saved there.

(Inspired work by someone with very small fingers on the skates also).

  24. SNOWQUEENTRINKETS

I love them all, but I vote for no: 15, maximumrabbitdesigns has captured Christmas just perfectly as the text (hair) is all about nativity., and she has a lovely serene face.

  25. Wow – what a difficult choice – so many fantastic entries! I think I will have to go for number nineteen – very innovative!

  26. Jenny Jones

I vote for number 18. It’s big and bold and makes me smile and want to go eat a bag of chocolate coins!

  27. Pambi Greetings

oh sorry I need more than one vote, they are all amazing and I really cannot choose so if I have got to put them in order I choose No 2 then 18 then 4 then 10 then19……ok so I had better stop and if it really has to be only one vote then its got to be No2.

  28. George

I like the ice skating boots best – what a clever way to use a paperclip! Number 4 Daisie Davies gets my vote

  29. It’s a toughie but my vote goes to Lupin (number 18). It’s so nostalgic – anyone remember the Blue Peter advent candleabra?

  30. My vote is for number 2!

(sorry for the succession of posts…I wanted to fix the first one and I forgot to put the number choice in!)…it’s one of those days!

  31. Robin

I vote No. 19, the ring pull stars, definitely the most inventive, but i think everyone did a brilliant job i love lost in the forest too.

  32. Number 19
I decided NOT to voye for a friend – sorry but i have a few who entered but these are so GOOD and real RUBBISH x i do hate the fact however that we cannot vote anonimously (did i spell that right?) I think it is unfair to have to declare this publicly ta x

  33. I love some of the recycling innovation here – those ringpull stars are fab! My vote has to go to MaximumRabbit though, such a cute angel and I love all the different recycled bits that have gone into it :)

  34. tillywitchy

Wow! Some fabulous ideas on show, but my vote goes to no2 nifty-knits.
Well done to all participants :)

  35. Ruth

My vote goes to #5. I like the simplicity of the design and the way that it has been photographed so beautifully. Well Done!

  36. Irish Mitchell

    #2

Brilliant! Love the thoughts and hard work gone into this creation.

    Good luck nifty-knits.

And all the other creations are wonderful too.

  37. dee

Oooh wow, how can we choose?..they are all soo wonderful.

The ice skates at no 4 are gorgeous, but my vote has goes to No 2, nifty knits!
