Craft ideas for kids!

A  list of craft tutorials, makes and bright ideas for keeping creative children entertained over the holidays. A top tip when crafting with kids is to try to ignore your ‘perfectionist’ side and embrace the mess and wonkiness – just take a deep breath and put down lots of newspaper- you’ll be fine!

New crayons from old broken Crayons -A great incentive to get your children to sort through their arty stuff and have a bit of a tidy up, also teaches them about recycling. There’s masses more green craft tutorials at this link too.
Origami Mice – No glue needed, if they’re too young to fold themselves they will still enjoy watching you magically make these little mice from a piece of paper (probably best practise first!).
Braided Leather or fabric bracelets Perfect for older children to make and share with friends, and can make use of lots of old scraps of fabric or old leather shoelaces you have spare.
Make a Pop up flower card – this tecnique could be adapted over and over to make pretty cards any time of the year!
Celtic Knotwork doodles – you will just need a pen and paper for these – watch the video (a few times, it’s quite mesmerising) and learn how to draw celtic knots, great for kids that love drawing and doodling and once you have the knack there are no limits to the size of the knots you can create  – they’ll wow their teachers with these scribbled over their exercise books!
Bunny Finger Puppets – these are so sweet, if your child is not yet able to stitch they will still enjoy helping you cut out and make the pom pom tail.
Surprise Eggs – perfect make for an Easter party, these eggs are so beautiful and anything that involves sweets will be a real hit.
Bunny Feet – great for little kids and they needn’t be bunnies, you could adapt these into monsters or aliens for little boys – just a great idea to get kids hopping about.
Decoupage Art Beads – this necklace tutorial is great, it involves various parts of building up the design including making the beads.
