Reduce, reuse and recycle!
Did you know that the UK produces approx 35 million tonnes of rubbish per year of which only approx a quarter is recycled (www.recycle-more.co.uk) I’m sure we could do better. I’ve had a look on the Folksy site to see which sellers are using recycled materials/textiles and I am pleased to be able to bring to you items made from previously redundant materials and transformed or upcycled into something new, something stunning. Here are just a handful of fabulous Folksy sellers who have done just that. Enjoy!
Click on the images and take a look at all the other great items these Folksy sellers have to offer too!
“I am absolutely passionate about recycling and sustainability issues and this is reflected in my work. I like to repurpose previously used items into something else, into something new. I am influenced by my husband who is a painter & printmaker, and lends a hand with design and composition of my cushions etc, and by many craftmakers on Folksy. I believe in reusing, recycling, repurposing, making creative use of what we have around us – sustainability made stunning! ”

I love this folksy friday collection – shows what a great variety of things can be made from recycled materials – and i’m sure it’s just the tip of the iceberg
I love the Sustainabilty that Dharmaflyer works by…..how many crafters can also boast producing their own electricity on site for their work like we do at WeirdWood

Thanks for featuring my bag. I love working with woolen jumpers – you never quite know how much they will shrink in the felting process. I’m also a big fan of reusing all kinds of trousers. Such as these ‘bum’ bags

Thanks for the comments. I was so spoilt for choice when putting this post together. I have yet to figure out how to harness electricity for my sewing machine. Now there’s a thought!
Great post and a really important issue in crafting I think. Weirdly, I’d was working on a blog post on recycling & craft myself when I spotted this! You can find it at http://wp.me/p1B0uc-1T
If every family in the US just took three containers and recycle them, then people would keep 23 million pounds of material out of the landfill and into recycling. Everyone can make a difference here! Check this video out:
