Introducing Emily

Hello. My name is Emily. I’m a little giddy with excitement over my new role as blogger at Folksy.com so, sensing that, the Folksy gang have let me loose and asked me to introduce myself.

I come from a long line of artists and crafters and have an insatiable passion for all things handmade. It is therefore a huge honour for me to be asked to get involved with Folksy and write about, not only the items our sellers are making, but also the craft world itself; to celebrate British craft and design by bringing you inspiring stories from inspiring individuals.

As well as continuing to showcase and promote the great shops Folksy has to offer, I also want to give you, our community, some interesting features to indulge yourself in. I want to get geeky and take a good look at aspects of art forms that are sometimes over-looked. I want to seek out those dedicated individuals keeping a dying craft alive and those that are striving to create a new one. To dig around your craft kits, snoop about your workspaces, take sneaky peeks at your new work and basically get to know you better! Then I want to share all this with you over a good cup of tea and a ginger snap.

But unfortunately, we have a couple of weeks to wait. September the 5th is my official start day and so, until then I will be sharpening my pencils, polishing my favourite shoes and pouring over Folksy’s fabulous shops just a little longer. See you soon!
