Lucky Dip Club + Folksy = Awesome box of handmade goodies

Everyone loves getting happy post. And we know you love handmade. So earlier this year we came up with the genius idea to put the two together, and the Lucky Dip Club + Folksy Box was born! Only 300 of these boxes will ever be made, and each and every one will be filled with a secret selection of goodies handmade by Folksy designers. Lucky Dip Club is a bright and brilliant subscription box started by the inspirational Leona Thrift-ola (she of Lady Luck Rules OK jewellery fame) almost exactly a year ago in May 2014. Leona had spotted the growing trend for beauty subscription boxes in the US and combined that with her love of craft and vintage to create a monthly surprise subscription box packed with treats. Every product in the box is designed by Leona exclusively for the Lucky Dip Club, and each box also features a new design by a specially invited illustrator, designer or maker (Gemma Correll and I Love Crafty are just two of the collaborators so far).

After launching with just 100 boxes, Lucky Dip Club now sends out over 1,000 boxes a month, and enjoys almost cult-like status on the craft scene, with legions of devoted fans setting their alarms for the early morning launches and sharing their Lucky Dip Club snaps across social media.

Here’s how it works…

1. On the first day of every month the Lucky Dip Club launches a new box with a theme (we’re talking Valley of the Unicorns, Vintage Village Fete, It’s Raining Cats & Dogs…) but no one knows exactly what’s inside, apart from Leona.

2. The boxes are announced on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and everyone goes a bit giddy with excitement.

3. The boxes sell out in hours (sometimes minutes).

4. Once the orders are in, Leona and her team set up a snack station stocked with smiley donuts and sugary treats to fuel them through hours of packing boxes upon boxes upon boxes.

5. Leona and crew hand over all the boxes to the postman, who puts them in his satchel and moves mountains and rivers to deliver them.

6. Lucky peeps all across the country open their boxes to reveal the surprise goodies inside and everyone is filled with joy.

Good, right? We think so – and just the mention of our special-edition Lucky Dip Club + Folksy Box is enough to induce multi-coloured rainbows of excitement at Folksy HQ. So the idea is this: Leona has invited 15 outstanding Folksy designers to each make something never-before-seen for a one-off Lucky Dip Club + Folksy Box. These goodies will be divided up between the boxes, meaning every special-edition box will have FIVE handmade treats not available anywhere else in the world (and they are all AWESOME). You don’t have to subscribe to get your hands on one of these boxes, but you will need to be quick because the 300 limited-edition boxes go on sale at 7am on Friday 5 June via the Lucky Dip Club website – priced at £25 each –and they sell out fast!

Exactly what will be in there is still a closely guarded secret, but here’s a hint: over the last few months, makers have been busy screen printing, firing ceramics and making jewellery behind closed studio doors.
