For this week’s Folksy Friday I’ve been searching for summer inspiration: bright colours and good design to inspire and revive in this first full week of summer. Days at the beach, summer flowers and fluttering butterflies. Oh and a nod to the good old British weather!
We’ve got all of this to look forward to, fingers crossed.
Kirsti Brown is a potter based in North Wales. She make hand-built stoneware ceramic vessels influenced by the sea, beaches and cliffs around Wales and Scotland. She works with a dry turquoise glaze on a variety of textured clays, from a dark red to a toasted buff, which react in various ways, altering the depth of colour in the glaze. She is also influenced by Scandinavian design and makes decorative but functional objects such as bird vases and dishes with decorative details. You can read more about Kirsti in our interview.
