Gifts for bird lovers
I was delighted to be offered the chance to curate a small selection of gifts for bird lovers but was then overwhelmed by the number and choice of beautiful bird-related items on Folksy. There is definitely something for everyone and so many talented designers and makers to choose from. However, I had to make a choice and I hope you will like the small selection of my favourite things that I have put together. I also hope that you will enjoy browsing through Folksy for your favourite things as much as I did.
This lovely washbag by Susie Faulks with its blue tits and cheerful spring blossom would make a perfect, practical gift. With plenty of room for everything, interior pockets and hanging hook, I would love to receive this for Christmas. The same design is also available in a smaller size.
The nimble fingered and creative would be sure to love this needle felt kit by Wulydermy. It comes with all the materials you need to make three favourite garden birds and some toadstools too. I think it would be the perfect way to spend a winter’s evening with the bonus that you could display them when finished.
Kittiwake Gull painting by Bee Skelton
If the recipient of your gift would prefer to sit back and admire their present, this beautiful original artwork by Bee Skelton may be the perfect very special gift. The colours and design are stunning and, for me, conjure up cliff and sea views and the sound of seabirds.
For the young at heart and just for fun, one of Silverpasta‘s miniature birds might fit the bill. I have chosen the lapwing because it’s just so gorgeous and made me smile!
Silver Owl Pendant by A Wolf and I
Silver jewellery and owl lovers will be besotted with Frank the Owl by A Wolf and I. This lovely silver charm can be hung from your own chain and it has such character that it’s sure to become a firm favourite.
Thrush and Oak Leaf hanging decoration by NG Paperology
If you’re just looking for a little extra present, this pretty hanging decoration by NG Paperology might be the answer… if you could bear to give it away! I love the thrush and oak leaf design with its antique colouring and would be very happy to have one hanging in my home.
Ethically and environmentally friendly, these stencilled jute bags by June Bradbury aka Queen of Persia are a winner, being modestly priced and very pretty. It was very difficult to pick a favourite but the Red Kite tote won because it’s such a magnificent and beautiful bird.
Ceramic Owl Creamer by Rosemary Jacks Pottery
Last but not least is this gorgeous little creamer by Rosemary Jacks Pottery. The flying owl design reminds me of walking out on snowy winter nights. I love it!
