Angels winner…

by admin

Hey, so we have a winner to the Angels competition. You’ve probably counted them all and know this anyway, but in reverse order (from 3) we have:

THIRD with 37 votes is Lupin with her star (Lupin’s blog post about the story of making the star is well worth a read)

Folksy Angels: Cardboard Star

SECOND with 39 votes we have Daisie Davies and her ice skates

Ice Skate Tree Decorations

And the WINNER with a staggering 92 votes is NiftyKnits with her wind chime….

NiftyKnits Folksy Angels Christmas WindChime

So, NiftyKnits gets Folksy free for a year – looking forward to seeing lots of her work on the site.

What next? We’ll be printing out the images from the competition to sell as Christmas Cards on the site. The cards will be produced at cost (we’re looking at different options and are trying to use recycled card) for people to buy and will link back to the blog post with all of your details on (so you all get attribution). If you don’t want your image to be used please email us ASAP.

Thank you *so* much to everyone who voted and more importantly to all those who made something and went to so much effort to take part. Thank you. We’ll be posting another competition soon but in the meantime we’d love your feedback on what competitions you’d like to see us run… please put your thoughts in the comments.

This may also be a good opportunity to say thank you to the We Make people and we hope you have a great fair this Saturday at 79a Tottenham Court Road in the American Church in London.

Thank you! I’ll just unfurl my Oscar winner speech….I had so much fun doing this, many thanks to birchtree and the WeMake gang, and of course to folksy for such a magnificent prize.

I confidently expect a job offer from Blue Peter any day! I have already ordered my skates from Daisie, and I thoroughly recommend checking out the shops of the 23 runners up to see if they’re selling their magnificent creations.

Mine is already in the hands of the postal service making its way to WeMake London. Should you wish to recreate my windchime, details are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/niftyknits/sets/72157609333212276/

Yes, Lupin we were going to print all images for the cards… although No.11 (itsabee) has disappeared from flickr and we may not be able to do all depending on the print run we can get. I’ll let you know.

Well done Nifty!

This competition has been so great, thank you to everyone who put so much effort in.

I couldn’t believe it when the voting went so mad – the latest I saw was 250 votes!

Hope to see some of you at We Make Christmas tomorrow, I will be the one looking frazzled.

daisie December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

When will the cards be available? And do us contributors get a free one (ooh, look at me being cheeky)?!

Mawgen December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Well done nifty. Your comp winner looks even better in real life! :)

Really loved all the entries and great to see so many people getting involved in a competition with a recycling theme :)

heather December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

mawgen – thank you! I was a bit worried everyone would be standing round it at wemake sniggering!

heather December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Did I miss the Christmas cards? Or was it too late? Anyone know?

Mawgen December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Where are the Xmas cards??!!!! I wanted some so I could send to family and friends :( Really disappointed.

Jamesb December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Unfortunately both of the priners we use could not turn around the cards in time to sell for Christmas (i.e. for the 15th to get to you in 3 days to make the last postal day.

Sorry about this – I should have mentioned it earlier. We still really want to do something with the images… any ideas?

heather December 4, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Thanks James – I thought you were being a bit optimistic, tbh. Gift cards? Calendars? don’t know. I’m very impressed with our new way of reaching you via “a.n.other” forum ;-)
Have a lovely Christmas xxx

Hiya James
Thanks for letting us know. I missed the post. I only saw it mentioned in the forums, lol

It would be nice to still do something with them if there are any ideas?

Happy christmas to everyone at Folksy x
