A selection of items from the most viewed shops of October 2010. Congratulations to Babylonglegs, Kirtsy Elson, Diomo Glass, Pants and Paper and Quernus Crafts.

Hello, we’re back with another round-up of Folksy news. The past month has been very busy and there have been some big changes at Folksy. We’ve said a fond farewell to Anne and a big hello to Sarah, Folksy’s new Manager. We’ve also been busy launching shop sections and getting the Sampler ready to print. With only 38 days to Christmas Day, the festive shopping and selling on Folksy is well under way.

October/November 2010

  • Folksy had visits from 220,191 different visitors in October, that’s an 11% increase on September and on 120% increase Oct 2009 (and that’s not including figures from the forums or the blog)
  • New visits to the site represented 42% of all 443,247 visits for October 2010
  • Shop sections launched on 12th November, so far 615 shops have added sections
  • 20,000 Folksy Samplers have been printed and are being delivered to our Folksy paper girls and boys this week

Shop Sections

The launch of shop sections has been the big news this month.  The whole Folksy team has worked hard to launch this new feature and we’re really pleased with the positive response from the community.  Shop sections give sellers more control over their shops and allow buyers to find items quicker and easier.  If you haven’t already added the new sections then take a look at this screencast which shows you how to include them in your shop.

What else?

20,000 Folksy Samplers have been printed and will shortly be arriving on the doorsteps of our volunteer Folksy paper girls and boys.  If you don’t get a chance to pick one up in person then you’ll soon be able to view the online version. Watch out for our special Folksy Sampler blog post coming later in the week.

We’d like to give sellers more opportunities to be featured on Folksy so we’ll be changing the Featured Items more regularly. We’ll be picking a mixture of random and topical themes, this Friday we’re featuring magical related items to coincide with the big Harry Potter film release so tag your items with magical related tags. Let’s see all your wizards, owls and brooms!

The big news of the day is the announcement of a Royal engagement so here are a selection of wedding tagged items available at www.folksy.com.

Forums and Blog News

The Christmas Gift Guides have been a great addition to the blog, so far we’ve had selections of Christmas Decorations, cards, Silver Jewellery and Gifts for Little Girls.

There are also some additions to the Folksy Forums, new Sticky Posts have been added to the Shopkeeper Support forum, there are links to FAQ’s, useful tips and general information for sellers.

How are we doing?

We’d like to know if this sort of update is useful, so do give us your feedback on how we could improve. From December the monthly updates will be moving to the beginning of the month so we’ll be back with a mini update in a couple of weeks.  See you then!

:) The Folksy Team – James, Rob, Sarah, Doug, Andrew, Toni and Hilary.

It’s so inspiring to see successful people and I’m delighted that I have got to know one of them (Quernus Crafts) Kirsten has had time to support a newbie like myself – congratulations Kirsten – you deserve it!

Thank you for the update, but why no stats on sales again? We had them in September and then they disappeared….! Go on, tell us…. we can take it ;).

Hi Carolyn,

We’ve had a busy month – Folksy is growing, so it’s all good!

Sarah our new general manager has taken over the reporting of this monthly update. She’ll be mixing up the stats each month. The next update will be at the beginning of December, so there wont be long to wait for the November stats :)
