Not your Granny’s

As a mid-20th-century textile historian, I’m really excited to see all of the wonderful vintage and vintage-inspired dresses and accessories available here on Folksy. With the recent popularity of the TV series Madmen and the Cath Kidston look, our Grannys’ brooches and trinkets are again realising their potential, and about time too, I say!

But what if your Granny wasn’t so much Betty Draper as she was Miss Jean Brodie? Fear not, for there are many gorgeous items here to inspire you. From upcycled handbags to vintage cushions and even wonderful party dresses, you’ll definitely find something to spruce up your look for that work do, or to give as a gift this Christmas.

Click on the images and take a look at all the other great items these Folksy sellers have to offer too!

Folksy Seller” IngridNation has a great selection of knitted and knitting-inspired accessories, ranging from knitting needle bangles to buttonhole brooches and felt and button necklaces. Inspired by my grandmother’s ‘make do and transform’ attitude, my designs come in lovely retro colours and will brighten up any outfit. I even recently took a wedding order for knitted buttonholes for the chaps and a bouquet of knitted flowers for the bride! Why not see what I’m up to by visiting the IngridNation blog.
