FEATURED SUPPLIER! – Black Cactus in London

Anna at Black Cactus in London has some excellent hand printed fabrics to choose from in her Folksy shop.  She also offers sampler packs  of coordinating fabrics which we think are a fantastic idea.  The packs come packaged with a set of covered buttons making them an excellent gift for someone just getting started with sewing up their own creations or simply as a little inspiration for a project of your own.  Anna calls them a fabric lucky dip!

“In my South London studio I hand print my own designs onto fabrics, offering an alternative to the often more uniform retail options for fabric supplies.  Hand printed fabrics differ from one piece to another and the many small variations bring a further dimension to your work.

As a printmaker I’ve become more attracted to fabric and the opportunity to incorporate my designs into my everyday life rather than just frame them on the wall.”

Sewing Tips! – UK Sewing Blogs

I’ve put together a list here of 10 of my most favourite sewing blogs from the UK (in no particular order) These are just a few of the blogs I’ve discovered since becoming a confirmed fabric and craft addict.

U Handblog

Very Berry Handmade

The Sewing Directory

Mr X Stitch

Blueberry Park

Kitschy Coo

Bugs and Fishes

Print Pattern

Lovely Textiles

Lucy Kate Crafts

Directory of uk sewing blogs

This last one is not strictly one of my favourite sewing blogs….    it’s my blog! It is the rather damning evidence of my serious craft blog addiction.  I set up Craft Blog UK this time last year to promote UK crafting blogs, it’s a labour of love and since I’ve been working for Folksy it has taken a back seat but I thought a cheeky link was in order.  (read our recent google analytics basics post here on the Folksy blog if you are unsure of how useful backlinks can be )

We’re currently looking for a fabric supplies columnist and a yarn supplies columnist to post a little update once a month (just like this one) here on the Folksy blog.  Your Folksy shop will be credited if you are interested!  Just email me at hilary@folksy.co.uk for more details.
