A selection of items from the most visited shops in April

Hello! We hope you all enjoyed Easter and the extended bank holiday, here is the latest news from the Folksy Team including some important information about changes to the billing system.

April Statistics

  • April has seen an increase in orders of 50% compared to April 2010.
  • We had visits from 283,503 different people, this is an increase 123% from April 2010.
  • 66% of visitors came from the UK, 14% from the USA, 2% from Canada and 2% from Australia.  The other 16% of visitors came from 174 different countries such as France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Colombia.
  • Congratulations to Kirstie Elson, Harriettt, Hatastic, Cherry Loco and Pants and Paper who were our most visited shops.

Changes to Folksy billing system

We’ve made some important changes to the Folksy billing system, specifically how we deal with overdue fee payments.  The majority of Folksy users pay their bill promptly but there are some overdue fees in the system.  The fees are very important as they enable Folksy to actively support our sellers and promoting UK craft and design.

Bills are issued on the 1st of the month but at the moment no further reminders are sent or action taken if a bill is overdue.  Bills will continue to be issued at the beginning of the month as usual, a new notification will also appear when you go to Your Account on Folksy.

If the bill hasn’t been paid by the 14th of the month then a reminder notice will be sent out listing any overdue bills on your account.  You then have until the 1st of the following month to settle your overdue bill.  If by the 1st of the following month there are any overdue fees then your account will be put ‘on hold’.  This means that until your bill is paid you wont be able to list or sell on Folksy, your shop items will also no longer show up in searches.  As soon as your overdue fees are paid your account will return to normal and you will be able to list and sell on Folksy, your items will also return to the search.

Please refer to the updated article in the Folksy Knowledge base on Understanding and paying your Folksy bill

If you have any queries or concerns about your bill or your account then please do get in touch with Support either by emailing support@folksy.com or opening a new ticket in the support system.

Folksy Press Page

Another project we’re working on is the creation of a Folksy press page where we can show recent press coverage that Folksy has received.  We’ll also have a section with some useful information for journalists including some high resolution images of some items from Folksy.  We’re hoping the have this finished in the next week or so, we’ll announce when it’s all ready for you to view.

Upcoming Category changes

June’s monthly update will list the latest category changes and additions for Folksy so please submit any suggestions to the Suggested Features Category post by May 15th.

How are we doing?

We’d like to know if this sort of update is useful, so do give us your feedback on how we could improve. See you next month!

The time given to settle your fees are very generous in any case, so i think that sending a reminder will give a gentle nudge to the few who have overlooked this.

Overdue fees procedure seems very fair. If, for example, someone is on holiday at the beginning of the month – it gives plenty of time to catch up – the extra reminder will be useful in these cases – (typed with one eye on my August calendar!) -since we cannot pay in advance even though we may be in holiday mode and not incurring any more fees that month!

Level of info, with year on year comparison – very useful!

Thank you!

Great to read the statistics, nice one.

Fee’s seem fair enough to me, I always pay mine straight away as I have the memory of a goldfish and would forget otherwise.

Update is great, thank you.
