Gift and Delivery Addresses are Go!

One of the improvements to the buying experience we’ve been working on is for buyers to be able to specify different delivery addresses and to optionally save these addresses to use for future purchases. We’re calling this Gift Addresses and it goes live this morning (27th March 2012) and we’ll be celebrating this minor win with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

PayPal integration update
Soon, all sales will again be eligible for PayPal Seller Protection and also PayPal Postage, which many of you said you used and which wasn’t supported by the PayPal API for multiple payments we were integrating with. The PayPal single payments work will be released with the Guest Login work shortly.

Update: as of the 29th March the PayPal integration work is now complete.

That’s it, have a nice day.

I can’t wait for this to be re-instated. I had a hell of a time today trying to parcel up a sale. Paypal notification only gives me sellers name/e-mail and total amount. it no longer gives me item amount, postage and total. I separate out the item price from postage costs in my accounts, this makes for hell! Doesn’t even tell me what the payment is for!! As for the “printable reciept showing sellers address” – where? I had an ugly e-mail notification containing lots of “bumpf” that I certainly would not send out to a customer with their item. As for the “gift address” thing. You cannot enforce this individual businesses. It is each of our individual perogative as to whether we would be prepared to post items to an address other than that of the buyer and other than that given on the Paypal payment as any items NOT sent to the address on the Paypal payment would NOT be covered under seller protection services.

Yes, it’s one of the issues integrating with third party services. We saw it as a payment provider / service only (even the people in the team using PayPal a lot) so the work passed all our tests. You’ll have your PayPal postage back soon :)

James, can you be more specific than ‘soon’? I was planning to reopen my shop on Saturday (closed for several weeks due to health issues) but if these Paypal problems haven’t been resolved by then, there’s no point.
