Shop Talk : Holly and Evie

by Camilla

This week’s featured maker is relative newbie to the craft scene Lucy Vernon from Holly and Evie. We asked Lucy to answer some of the questions often asked by Folksy sellers.

How do you sell your work?
I just sell online. I have my own shops, and I also have one online retailer that stocks some of my items.

Do you promote your work?
I don’t promote my work yet, but that’s the next thing on my list! I have just set up a Holly and Evie Facebook page though.

How do you decide on your prices?
I first work out the cost of wool that I’ve used, then I add on what I think the finished piece is worth. I think about how much would I pay for it if I saw it in a shop, and I also have a look around online to see how other similar items are priced.

Is there anything you’ve particularly struggled with? Have you found a way around it?
Finding time to do everything! But I now give myself so many hours a day for my making, do my online work in the morning and evening, and I try to have weekends off so I can do other things I love.
