A new Instagram hashtag for makers to start using now!
Folksy seller Hannah Berridge has just launched a new Instagram hashtag for Christmas 2019, designed by a maker for makers, to help get those festive orders in! It called #MakersChristmasCountdown and we asked Hannah to she explains what the hashtag is and how you can join in. Over to Hannah…

Hello all you independent craft makers!
I’m Hannah Berridge, a maker of ceramics, and every year I publish a ‘Christmas Countdown’ on my Instagram and Facebook pages, promoting my work with photographs every day for the 100 days leading up to the 25th December. This has worked well for me, and the idea to create a new hashtag #makerschristmascountdown, which all indie makers can use, has sprung from there! I’m hoping it will help us all with our marketing efforts.
December may still feel like a long way away but we’re all concentrating on making work for Christmas now – and lots of buyers are already looking for their Christmas presents. I’ve already had some Christmas orders! These weeks leading up Christmas are the most important time of the year in terms of marketing our creative businesses and our products, and it’s our job is to get our beautiful, handmade pieces out into the market place – quickly!

How to use #makerschristmascountdown
We all know how difficult it can be to publicise and market our work, so this Instagram hashtag is a way to help. The idea is to use the new hashtag #MakersChristmasCountdown on your Instagram posts in the lead-up to Christmas (it’s 98 days away today and counting!) to let the world know about your amazing products and all the creative effort that you put into making them.
You can post festive product photographs, craft fair details, lovely Christmas wrapping, new products, your own Christmas wish lists and tell people how your indie business is preparing for Christmas using this hashtag. The more it’s used, the more people will see our work and the better we will do!
You don’t have to limit it to just Instagram either. You can use it on Facebook, Twitter and even Pinterest too!
Give it a go!
