A price increase for legacy Folksy Plus members
In June we announced that the price of the Folksy Plus account was increasing for new sellers (see this post). At the time we wanted to keep fees frozen for existing users and legacy account holders for as long as possible. However, to continue to provide the best service possible, we now have to bring the costs for all Plus account holders in line with the price paid by new customers.
From 9th January 2023 the price of the Folksy Plus account for both existing users and annual legacy plan members will increase to £7.50 a month or £75 a year.
This is the first price increase for annual legacy Plus account holders in 10 years, and the first price increase for monthly users in over four years. However, we do understand that news of any price increase can be worrying, particularly at the moment.
We want to reassure you that although the price is going up, so is the value that the Plus account provides. Building on the success of our National Campaign for Craft and the Seconds Sunday Sale, we are planning more partnerships, Plus-only events, benefits and features (such as our 0% commission month in January), and we will also soon be launching the Folksy Trusted Supplier List, with exclusive discounts for Plus sellers.
This is all part of our plan to be the best marketplace for makers in the UK.
Our goal is to provide you with a successful, ethical, vibrant marketplace you can be proud to be part of, and this change in price is essential in order to make Folksy the best it can be.
What does this mean for me?
Legacy Annual Account
From 9th January 2023, annual legacy account members will be automatically moved on to the new annual Plus Account. The fee will be £75 a year (rather than £45) and this fee will be billed once a year on your usual renewal date. You do not need to do anything for this change to take effect.
- For example, if your account renewed on 1 November 2022, your next bill won’t be until 1 November 2023, and will be £75.
- If your last billing date was 9th January 2022, you will be billed £75 on 9th January 2023.
You will receive confirmation of the new billing date and amount from GoCardless.
Existing Monthly Folksy Plus accounts:
From 9th January 2023, all monthly users who have been on the £5 a month plan will be automatically moved to the new monthly Plus account. The fee will be £7.50 a month, and you will be charged on your usual billing day. You do not need to do anything for this change to take effect.
- For example, if your last payment came out on 9th December 2022, your next bill on 9th January 2023 will be for £7.50.
- If your last payment came out on 8th December 2022, you will be charged £5 on 8th January 2023 and then £7.50 the following month on 8th February 2023.

If you’re currently on the monthly Plus account, you may want to consider switching to the annual Plus account, which is cheaper – equivalent to 2 months free. You can do this on your dashboard.
Basic account:
There is no change to our basic account. Listing fees and commission on our basic account remain the same. If you think you might be better off on the basic account, you can do this on your dashboard.
There is no change to our 6% commission on any of our plans.
If you want to switch accounts
If you want to change the plan you are on (either from monthly to annual Plus, or move to a Basic account), you can do that directly from your dashboard, without coming to support. To switch your account type:
- log into Folksy
- go to your dashboard
- click the Plus account link
