Join Folksy’s seconds sale event on the weekend of 21st-23rd February 2025

This year our exceptionally popular seconds event is back and it’s bigger than ever! We’re taking over a whole weekend, between the 21st-23rd February 2025 with a preview to our customer mailing list on Thursday 20th. In this post we’ll explain what it is, how you can take part as a seller and how you can shop the sale…

When is Folksy’s Perfectly Imperfect Weekend?

The Seconds Sunday events we have previously held have been such a success that we’re bringing back this popular event for 2025, bigger and better than ever. Our Perfectly Imperfect Weekend sale will take place 21st-23rd February 2025 at folksy.com.

What is Folksy’s Perfectly Imperfect Weekend?

The beauty of handmade items is that no two are alike because they’ve been made by a human. But makers, artists and designers have high standards and sometimes their creations don’t quite meet their exacting standards. Structurally sound, the item can have minor flaws or imperfections. This is called a second.

A second could also be a piece from an older collection or a sample product, made to test out a new idea, material or technique.

Selling these pieces as seconds allows the customer to purchase a piece of art or craft at a reduced rate and avoids makers throwing away stock, thereby minimising waste. It also enables customers to buy beautiful pieces no matter their budget. 

How do I take part as a Folksy seller?

• You need a Folksy Plus account to take part. The event is FREE for all Folksy Plus members. To upgrade, log into your Folksy account and join here – https://folksy.com/dashboard/plus-account
• Create a listing as normal for each of your ‘seconds’ or edit an existing listing
• Add the tag ‘perfectly imperfect’ to your listing (without quotation marks or #)
• Add the words ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ to the title. 
• Make it clear in the description why this piece is a second, accurately describing any flaws or imperfections, or whether it is an end of line or sample product.
• Use our ‘Sales’ feature to reduce the price. Set the sale price to account for the flaws or imperfections; the original price should be what it would cost if it was new and perfect. (Refer to section 1.4. ‘Comparisons with prices related to different circumstances‘ of the UK Government’s Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications for legal requirements when pricing goods that are not considered in ‘perfect’ condition.)
• use the hashtag #folksyseconds to promote the event and your seconds on social media
• Make sure your seconds are listed and ready before Thursday 20th February 2025, when our subscribers will receive a preview email.

How can I promote The Perfectly Imperfect Weekend?

You can use the templates and graphics we have created on Canva here to promote the Perfectly Imperfect Weekend sale on your social media channels. You don’t need to add these to your product images on your listings.

Important note for sellers:

You can add as many listings as you like to the event but it will only show three items from each shop at a time, regardless of how many you tag. This is intended to make it easier for buyers to see a wide range of items from a range of different sellers and prevent an entire page being filled with products from only one shop.

If you have tagged multiple items and one sells out, the page will automatically pull in the next product tagged in the order it is listed in your shop. This also allows you to change the items that are shown on the event page over the weekend by rearranging your shop using the Shopkeeping feature. The changes will be visible when the page updates.

You can list your items at any time before and during the event but remember the market opens to our newsletter subscribers a day early, so if you want to be included in the preview, make sure you have added your items before that date.

Please note: We reserve the right to remove any items that are not clearly described as a second from the sale, without prior notice. 

How do I shop over the Perfectly Imperfect Weekend?

Visit folksy.com between 21st-23rd February and look out for the Perfectly Imperfect Weekend banner on our homepage. This will take you to our dedicated seconds sale page, where you will be able to shop all items available in the sale.
