About Folksy

Folksy is the UK’s curated marketplace for art, craft, and handmade design – a place where creativity thrives and independent artists and makers can flourish. We’re a small, dedicated team who believe in championing UK creativity and building a platform where our community of sellers feel supported, inspired, and seen.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative, organised and community-minded Marketing Assistant to join the Folksy team. You’ll help grow and nurture our community of artists and makers by managing and engaging across our social media channels and forums, working closely with the Marketing Lead to develop content that resonates with sellers and buyers alike.

This is a hands-on, part-time role ideal for someone with experience in social media, content creation or community engagement — ideally someone with a creative background themselves.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Instagram & Facebook content planning
    • Create and schedule engaging content for the @folksysellers Instagram (3x week)
    • Support content planning and scheduling for @folksyHQ Instagram & Facebook (2x week)
    • Work alongside our social media agency to ensure cohesive content going out across all channels
  • Social media engagement
    • Reply to comments and DMs, and build relationships with sellers and influencers
    • Reshare seller and customer content, and explore new content formats like reels or live sessions
  • Community management
    • Inspire and moderate conversations on the Folksy Clubhouse and Forum
    • Respond helpfully and calmly to community queries or concerns, escalating when necessary
  • Email marketing support
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Lead to create and send:
    • 2x weekly buyer emails
    • 1x monthly seller newsletter
    • Occasional seller updates
  • Help develop and test new formats (e.g. interviews, studio tours, lives) that build trust and seller happiness
  • Be part of the team identifying what content sellers and buyers most value

What We’re Looking For

  • Must-Have Skills & Experience
    • Experience in a social media, content or community role
    • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to write and engage in a brand voice
    • Experience using Instagram and Facebook for business (including reels and stories)
    • Confidence in handling community conversations, including occasional sensitive topics
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills
    • A “doer” – someone who takes initiative, follows through, and works efficiently
  • Nice-to-Haves
    • Comfortable appearing on video (e.g. Instagram Live, TikTok, or short-form video interviews)
    • Experience managing email campaigns using tools like Email Octopus/Mailchimp
    • Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools
    • A background in, or passion for, craft, art, or making
    • Experience moderating online communities or forums

The Right Fit

This role would suit someone who is:

  • A great team player – able to follow a brief but not afraid to ask questions or suggest improvements
  • Creative within constraints – excited to work within a brand and experiment with formats and ideas
  • Comfortable with trial and error – some ideas will flop, some will fly!
  • Curious and empathetic – able to build authentic relationships with creative sellers and buyers

Why Work With Us?

  • Be part of a small, friendly and purpose-driven team
  • Support a vibrant, creative community of independent UK artists and makers
  • Flexible remote working, with space to shape how you work best
  • Opportunities to learn and grow as you test new ideas and formats

To Apply please send us:

  • A short cover note explaining why this role interests you and why you’d be a good fit
  • Examples of social content you’ve created (this could include Instagram posts, videos, email newsletters, blog content)
  • Your CV or LinkedIn profile
