It won’t be long before Christmas starts appearing on your customers’ radar. They’ll be making gift lists, planning festive get-togethers and beginning the search for thoughtful presents and decorations.
Many of you will already be sketching ideas for your Christmas collections, while others might just be starting to think about what to make this year.
With our Christmas Craft Drop launching in September, we thought we’d share some inspiration based on what shoppers were searching for and buying on Folksy last Christmas, alongside some wider festive search data and trend reports. We hope it’ll help spark ideas for new products, seasonal collections, or simply give you confidence that you’re making the kinds of things customers are looking for.
This is just a snapshot of some of the most popular searches, and beyond these there is a huge long tail of other products, styles and crafts that customers are searching for. If your product range or craft type doesn’t appear in the list below, don’t worry – there are customers looking for all kinds of unique handmade products on Folksy. The most important thing is creating something that feels true to your craft and your customers.
What were Folksy’s Christmas shoppers searching for in 2025?
Last Christmas, these were some of the most popular searches on Folksy during November and December (in no particular order):
- Christmas
- Crochet
- Earrings
- Christmas Cards
- Christmas Decorations
- Stained Glass
- Scarf
- Mug
- Jewellery
- Stickers

- Robin
It’s no surprise to see Christmas decorations and cards featuring so highly, but it’s also interesting that everyday handmade products like jewellery, scarves, mugs and pottery continued to perform well, and in fact peak, throughout the festive season. Many shoppers are looking for gifts rather than purely seasonal products.

Looking for a little extra inspiration?
Every year, trend forecasters and retailers publish their predictions for the colours, themes and styles likely to influence Christmas shopping.
At Folksy, we don’t believe you should chase trends for the sake of it. The most successful handmade businesses create work that’s authentically theirs, and doesn’t respond to ‘what’s cool right now’. But if you’re looking for a spark of inspiration – or simply love immersing yourself in all things Christmas – it can be great fun to see what’s emerging.

Here are a few places worth exploring…
So, what does all of this mean?
Looking across all the searches and sales, a few key patterns stand out:
- Don’t solely think about Christmas gifting, look at Christmas decorations and entertaining. This remains consistently a huge sales opportunity for Folksy’s makers. Tree decorations, wreaths, garlands, table decorations, stockings, ornaments and other home decor continues to perform every year.
- Small giftable items are always popular. Think about jewellery, mugs, scarves and accessories that make excellent gifts and stocking fillers.
- Don’t forget Christmas Cards. Handmade Christmas Cards remain one of Folksy’s strongest seasonal categories. The struggle with cards is your price points may be quite low here, however buyers are often looking to send multiple Christmas Cards so think about creating Christmas Card packs to upsell on the card front.
- Winter products don’t need to be overly ‘festive’. Scarves, cushions, knitwear, cosy homewares will all fit with festive gifting without being overtly screaming ‘Christmas’.
- Traditional motifs continue to resonate with Folksy customers. Robins, woodland animals, stars and botanical themes are consistently showing in customer searches and clicks.
- Don’t forget the festive experience. Christmas isn’t just about gift-giving. It’s also about spending time together and crafting can help facilitate this. DIY kits, craft boxes and creative projects are perfect for family activities, Christmas Eve traditions or ‘friend-mas’ get togethers. And if you’re already offering workshops, launching a Christmas themed session can be a great way to attract new attendees in this season.
We can’t wait to see what you create this Christmas, and we’re looking forward to showcasing your festive collections as part of our Christmas Craft Drop this September.
