It feels pretty exciting to be part of Folksy at the moment; there’s so much going on. With improvements to existing parts of the site and new features being released all the time, everything’s been a bit of a whirlwind, so apologies that weeknotes seem to have become monthnotes!
While most of the team have been working on some brilliant improvements to Favouriting and Search (more on that soon!), my main focus has been the new forums, which we’ve been testing with a small group over the last two weeks.
The test has gone really well and we’re a bit in love with the new platform (Discourse.org), but it has alerted us to a couple of significant issues that are delaying the full roll-out. We’re working with Discourse to resolve those as soon as possible, but we have been able to enable another small group to take part. If you are part of that group, you will see an orange ‘Talk Folksy’ link to access the forums at the top of your Dashboard – we’d love it if you’d come and join in!
Having a place where the Folksy community can chat and share knowledge is really important, so we’re looking forward to seeing ‘Talk’ become a much more visible part of the site. We are hoping to help you make it a vibrant place where, not only sellers, but buyers and makers, can offer mutual support, exchange tips and perhaps learn new skills.
If you don’t have access to the new forum yet, it shouldn’t be long – if all goes to plan, they will be available to everyone around the end of this month. In the meantime, do have a look around, read what people are talking about, and see how things work. You can see the new forums here at talk.folksy.com and you can discuss any issues or concerns, as always, at forums.folksy.com.
Much more to come. Onwards and upwards.
Have a great weekend.
